I developed this guide on Lockjaw when I was maining a magician at the time. Using this method I was able to get everyone in my large guild who wanted a Pegasus Cloak one of their own within a week. You need someone with a good tracking skill. And you sit them just southeast of Splitpaw. You have the tracker stare at their tracking window (set to Normal mode, so that it sorts the mobs in the order that they spawn). The Pegasus Cloak is about a 30% ish drop rate from Quillmane. If you kill Quillmane or Quillmane's placeholder there's about a 1/6ish chance it'll spawn Quillmane. Quillmane or her placeholder spawns exactly 66 seconds after Quillmane or the Quillmane placeholder dies. No other mob will respawn exactly after 66 seconds in that area of South Karana except for the Quillmane or Brother Qwinn placeholders. So you'll need a stopwatch ready... and hit start on your stopwatch the very second the mob dies. I saw the following mobs as confirmed Quillmane placeholders: 1) a lion 2) a lioness 3) a mist wolf 4) a shadow wolf 5) an escaped Splitpaw gnoll 6) a cyclops 7) aviak rook 8) aviak darter 9) centaur foal 10) centaur archer 11) an elephant* *The "an elephant" on the west wall is the only mob that is guarunteed 100% as Quillamane's placeholder. Also of note is that this is the only type of elephant that is a confirmed placeholder for Quillmane. No other elephant has been Quillmane's placeholder (i.e. calf, bull, adult). If you see "an elephant" on the west wall just south of Splitpaw... That is 100% Quillmane's placeholder. Kill this mob and start your 66 second timer. The mob that spawns from this will be Quillmane or a Quillmane placeholder. 1) As soon as you get to the Quillmane camp... Without knowing who the placeholder is... and just killing at random... You'll be there 24-72 hours before you are likely to see Quillmane. So you need to figure out who the Quillmane Placeholder is. To do this... there's a couple ways... Option-A) You kill one of the possible placeholders and start you stopwatch. You watch the tracking window and see if anything spawns exactly 66 seconds after you killed the mob. If nothing spawns... that wasn't the placeholder... now find another mob and try again. If something spawns after the 66 second timer... there's a good chance that's the place holder. Kill that new mob that spawned and start the 66 second timer again. If something spawns exactly 66 seconds after that died... you can be pretty certain you're killing the Quillmane placeholder. Option-B) You kill all possible placeholders inside of the circle shown below. See below image. This is the area that Quillmane and her placeholders typically are. When Quillmane or "an elephant" (from the west wall) spawns... Then that will be your placeholder.
